This lesson plan offers a fun approach to teaching the alphabet and phonics to young children, with a Flower or Garden theme. There is a planning sheet with suggestions for using the resources provided. These include a sheet for each letter of the alphabet, showing a flower with 7 petals and 7 pictures beginning with the given sound. There is a blank flower on each page that the children can draw in or write the words corresponding to the pictures. The first sheet is coloured in as an example to share with children. This is based on the letter S and shows written words corresponding to the pictures. Creating a Learning Display: The culminating Class Alphabet Garden display suggested in the planning, serves as a visual reinforcement of the lessons learned, making the classroom an engaging learning environment.
